Eugeny Taran was born on 21 January 1973 in the town of Krivoy Rog (Ukraine). In1995 he graduated from the St.Petersburg State Academy of Culture (cinema and photography dept). Since 1992 he has been a member of the Ukrainian Photoartists' Union.

Eugeny's works have been published in the book SOKUROV (Seance Press, 1994); magazines: Cahiers du Cinema, Premier, Seance; newspapers: The Times, Commersant, Vecherny Petersburg, Smena and etc.
